Dear Sir/Madam,
Re: Request for assistance to Construct in Bweyogerere Peri-Urbah Centre, an Administrative/School Classroom Complex Block
On behalf of the School Management Committee (SMC), which is the supreme governing body of St.Thomas Bazadde Primary School Bweyogerere, I take this opportunity to forward to you, their request for your kindest consideration to support their struggle in constructing the above mentioned Administrative/Classroom complex, copy of the project proposal could be for further examining and for a donation grant from the Qatar Foundation resources development envelope.
St. Thomas Bazadde Primary School is parent-owned where the word Bazadde is a Luganda which when translated means Parents. It was founded in 1985by the Consolata Missionaries Congregation who immediately upon their arrival in Uganda at the kind invitation of their Ugandan counterparts:- Kampala Archdiocesan Priests Association (KAPA) on evangelical mission, held first liberal dialogue, where parents raised, Some Seed Money, combined with Consolata Capital Funds Donated that saw the original classrooms blocks contracted.
As times past the Ministry of Education and Sports, like other Missionary Schools country wide, the Catholics, Anglican and Muslim community Schools were registered as government owned, with full administrative networks offered, with mutual cooperation under the Foundation Bodies. This approach facilitated, accessibility of government services extended vis-à-vis, the uniformity in the curriculum and honoraria for deployed teaching staff. Other development programs, namely operational and capital development including outlook face-lifting, the School Management Committees (SMC) were given mandate. The SMC in Ugandan Primary Schools consists, majority of whom being parents, Old Boys/Girls, representative Municipality and Community Council Chairman, the Foundation Body member, teachers’ representative the author by de facto serves the Committee as both Secretary and Minutes Proceedings Recording.
Furthermore, the recent years have seen St.Thomas excelling one the best, beyond the geographical boundaries of Kira Municipality to national level. Parents from as far as Mukono district including those from the peripheral of Kampala city have applied for their faith by one of the teachers and every Friday offered laissez-passer for Juma prayers.
As mentioned above, the number of children being sheltered in our school became overwhelming. The sitting positions in each classroom gave rise for concern, complicating the best performance, yet under the Universal Primary Education(UPE) to which the United Nations Millennium Development Plan for Action goal was questionable, unless some actions done at an early stage.
It was against this background, parents requested for the School Management Committee and discussed seriously the School expansion and the extension on a limited ground. It was resolved each parent, every term contributes on average UGX20,000/= as seed money. This money is being receipted on a separate code account. Later the Administrative/Classroom block image mentioned above was approved introduced. Detailed bills of quantities are yet to be worked out, with an estimated cost above UGX700m/=. The Management committee had mandated us to present this appeal to you for assistance and then introduce us to other sources of funding where assistance could be possible.
At this stage we feel sure your assistance and support to guide us into fullest implementation of this project at the same time looking forward to receiving your favorable support.
With best and kind regards.
Yours sincerely
SILAS MUSISI
SMC Secretary/Headmaster
Assistance requested for St.Thomas Bazadde Bweyogerere Catholic primary School, to Construct Administrative/classroom block to reduce Children congestion
St.Thomas Bazadde is parent owned and Cosolata Missionaries Congregation founded in 1985. The school was established following the dialogue between Bazadde a Luganda word, when translated means parents who at the beginning mobilized among themselves, Seed Money as a catalyst, when combined with Consolata grant , saw the original classrooms now accessed obsolete got constructed. The 2018 and 2019 school Management Committee (SMC) meetings received requests from the parents themselves agreeing to mobilizing among themselves, each parent raising UGX20,000/= each term passing and the credited on the school project developing Account no. 4220600022, Account name: st.Thomas Bweyogerere Catholic School Centenary bank . Local collection, seed money is being termed as a catalyst, energizing both local and external donation/grant appeal. The reason behind this cause, among other things, first to have the Administrative/Classroom Block constructed in the school and later reduce children congestion as is, that has given rise for concern.

This campaign fundraising envisaged internally and externally within the next six months and shall be sharing with all stake holders, a progress report as action to this cause will be unfolding.
